About This Plant
About This Plant
Botanical name: Hoya Neocaledonica
Also known as: Wax Plant
Hoya Neocaledonica is a beautiful tropical Hoya appreciated for its glossy green foliage and vigorous vining growth. Its long stems can be trained around a trellis or allowed to trail naturally, making it an attractive choice for shelves, hanging displays, and indoor plant collections.
Like many Hoyas, Hoya Neocaledonica prefers bright, indirect light and a well-draining growing medium. Allow the soil to partially dry between waterings and avoid leaving the roots sitting in consistently wet soil.
With maturity and favorable growing conditions, Hoyas can reward growers with their distinctive clusters of waxy flowers. This variety is an excellent choice for both established Hoya collectors and anyone looking for an elegant tropical vine.
Plant Care Guide
Plant Care Guide
☀️ Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun is beneficial, but avoid prolonged harsh afternoon sunlight.
💧 Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil have dried. Hoyas prefer to dry slightly between waterings and should not remain constantly soggy.
🌫️ Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is ideal. It can adapt to average household humidity but appreciates additional humidity with good airflow.
📏 Size: A climbing and vining Hoya that can develop long trailing stems. Train it onto a trellis or allow the vines to cascade naturally.
🐾 Pet-friendly?: ✅ Generally considered pet-safe. As with any houseplant, it's still best to discourage pets from chewing the foliage.
🪴 Where It Looks Best: Hanging planters, elevated shelves, plant cabinets, or trained onto a decorative trellis where its vines can be displayed.
💡 Pro Tip: Give it something to climb! Training the long vines around a hoop or trellis keeps the plant looking fuller and provides support as it matures.
